Heat Wave 2024 The End Of The Summer??

The
India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave warning for multiple states across India including Maharashtra, North Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and West Bengal, in its latest weather forecast. The IMD also issued a separate warning for Maharashtra cities such as Thane, Mumbai and Raigad for an impending heatwave this week.

Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are also bracing for high temperatures, according to the IMD forecast. It is expected that heatwave conditions in both states will prevail from April 16 to 18, leading to rising concerns for the citizens.

Wednesday, April 17: Western disturbances have been a consistent presence in India's northwestern regions recently, offering relief from the intense summer heat through sporadic showers. However, Gujarat, despite its somewhat close proximity to these rain-bearing states, has often found itself deprived of this respite, forced to endure its scorching conditions without relief. And now, more heat has been forecasted to scorch the western state in the coming days.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), hot and humid weather has been forecast over some pockets of Gujarat’s Saurashtra and Kutch subdivision today (April 17), and coastal areas of Gujarat from Wednesday to Thursday (April 17-18).

The weather department usually declares a heatwave when the maximum temperature of a station touches 40°C or exceeds it for plains and at least 30°C or more for hilly regions.

As for prominent cities in the state, daytime temperatures could touch 41°C in many parts of Ahmedabad, gradually falling back to 38-39°C over the next 4-5 days. While it is unlikely that the mercury will breach 40°C in Veraval and Porbandar, maximums could hover around 38-39°C in the coastal districts till tomorrow (19-04-2024,Friday).
